Reviews for: Folding Mattress, 200 cm x 110 cm, red / yellow
I ordered two of these mattresses right away, one in red-orange and one in blue-orange. The positive aspects for both mattresses are that they have a nice and unusual appearance, truly a standout feature in my flat. The material is excellentvery firm, which is exactly what I wanted, as it is healthier to sleep on than softer standard mattresses. I tested it out and am thrilled. Im looking forward to trying them in my new flat in a few weeks. The quality seems quite high, which I expected given the price.
However, the length doesnt quite match the description. The stated length should be 195 cm; the red-orange mattress is actually 195 cm, but the blue-orange one is longer, about 203 cm (see photo). I mentioned this positively because longer is always better, and though I was initially sceptical about buying the mattresses since 195 cm is too short for me, the kapok and the look convinced me. Since I always let my feet hang over the edge of the mattress, I still have enough space with my height (190 cm), so I decided on these mattresses. I expected my pillow might occasionally hang over the head end, but with the 203 cm length, this concern is no longer an issue.
On the downside, the colours are unfortunately not as vibrant as in the photo. It seems that photo effects were used to create the bright effect, but this is not a deal-breaker for me. The quality, while quite good, shows that the seams between the individual elements appear to be simply stitched. Frequent folding might cause the material to suffer sooner or later, though this is just a guess.
One issue I noticed with the red-orange mattress (but not with the blue-orange one) is that it smells quite musty, not of chemicals, which would be unusual for kapok, but rather like mildew. I suspect it was stored in a damp warehouse or cellar for an extended period. I hope no mould has developed (which is unlikely with kapok) and that the smell will dissipate over time.
